Hey everyone!

I'm starting to think about butcher day which isn't for another month, but I want to be prepared. Since this is my first time I was wondering what kind of packaging you would recommend for whole chickens. I'm worried about freezer burn n' such.

Thanks!!!

Kristen

I can cram up to a six and a half pound bird into the big foodsaver bags that Costco sells. It takes a fair amount of work, but they eventually go in.

Plain freezer or vacuum ziploc style work very well and are cost effective if you are processing them for yourself. Freezer wrap works great for boneless breast, thighs, etc...

We freeze about 6 - 8 months and had no problems with freezer burn. Also keeping your freezer close to 0 degrees Fahrenheit helps too.
