What would I get if I bred a black Turken to an Ayam Cemani?

Looking to create a fibro naked neck. If I breed a black turken hen to an ayam cemani rooster, would I get a NN ayam cemani?

Also, if my ayam cemani rooster has leakage, would it alter the color of the offspring?

A black Turken hen, a Naked Neck breed, would not necessarily produce a Naked Neck Ayam Cemani if it were bred with an Ayam Cemani rooster to produce a Fibro Naked Neck (NN). Although the Naked Neck characteristic is a recessive gene, you would need to breed the F1 generation to another bird that carries the gene in order to produce chicks with the desired phenotype. The progeny would be a mix of both breeds. When non-black feathers appear in an otherwise black bird, it's referred to as leakage (typically a weak or dull color coming through). This is what your Ayam Cemani rooster is experiencing. Your Cemani rooster's progeny may have lighter or less pronounced black coloration as a result of leaking. Some progeny may not be as strikingly black as pure Cemani birds as a result, which might affect the overall look. It won't, however, necessarily alter the Naked Neck characteristic itself.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

You would get a barnyard cross.. and would have to do more breeding to get to the standard of perfection and get it to breed true.

NN is incomplete dominant.. according to my current understanding.. with birds that carry only one copy of the gene displaying a bow tie.

Also the offspring of dark skinned roo cross light skinned hen would be sexlinked at hatch by skin color.. with females having dark skin and males having light skin.. sometimes it may take a few days for the trait to fully develop and may be seen best under the wing pit.. also according to my current understanding.

Although the following chart from google images is regarding Silkies/showgirls.. you can see how the naked neck gene works, just imagine the feathers as not silkied..

Breeding projects are tons of fun, best wishes on yours!
