On our local Craigslist, I frequently see advertisements for chickens referred to as "Feather Footed Fancies." Can anyone explain to me want chickens by this name actually are? Thanks!

It means that the chickens advertised have feathers on their legs and toes, it could be one of multiple breeds. Cochins, Brahmas, Langshans, and Sultans are a few, not to mention bantams.

There is a huge list of feather shanked birds that could be refered to a such. Marans, Langshans, Silkies, Faverolles and the list goes on ...

Or they could be mixed breeds of the above mentioned breeds. Be careful. If they don't know what breed they have, they probably not good breeders.

Murray McMurray Hatchery sells an assortment called Feather Footed Fancies, the ads might be referring to that hatchery selection specifically.
That selection contains standard/large size feather legged breeds only. [their site specifically mentions Cochin, Langshan, Brahma and Faverolles]

This is what I was thinking, too. It's just someone ordering from a hatchery and reselling the birds they don't want, and that's the name of the assortment they ordered. Folks around here offer "Rainbow Layers" from time to time, same thing.
