Lus Ducks
Hatching
Hello,
Hopefully I'm posting this is the right place. We live in Western Montana, and something has been getting into our fenced area and killing our ducks. Last week two ducks (one Pekin "Daisy", one Indian Runner "Waddles") were killed 10 feet apart from each other. The Pekin had been completely gutted down to the bone - even part of her bill was gone. Just the 2 breasts on the Indian Runner were eaten. Feathers all over the place from the Pekin, none around the other duck. There were a couple of feathers on the very top of our fence (8 ft) and a few scattered around on the other side of the fence. Last night something got in and killed another Indian Runner "Hulk" in the exact same spot. Feathers completely gone around about a 1 inch band around her neck & you can tell she'd been bitten there. Again with her both breasts were completely eaten, her intestines pushed a little outside her body. No feathers around. No sign of digging under the fence (it goes down 1 ft below ground level). Nothing alerted our dogs. No footprints, though the ground around there wouldn't necessarily show any prints. We're installing a game cam on that area right now. Thank you.
