My philosophy on food cravings has always been that my body is craving something in that particular food; so I go with the flow and indulge till my heart's content.
My only craving for the last two months has been for pickled banana peppers. I put them on everything, except ice cream. Banana peppers on sandwiches, on spaghetti, on rice and beans, on cereal....okay, I stopped myself before doing that.
I'm going through at least a jar a week, with no end in sight.
I am definitely NOT pregnant. I just hope whatever my body needs out of these things is satisfied soon.

You must be related to my son.
Maybe there is a gene for it. Wasn't from my side.
seriously though, maybe you need some sodium. and that's a nicer way to get it than pouring salt in the palm of your hand and licking it off.

I do have a salt deficiency, due to a med that leeches the salt out of my body, but I usually handle it by covering my food in salt . I'll let you know if it stops after we bring Kane home.

ahhh...banana peppers on a tuna fish sandwich...I always keep them on hand! Never put them on ice cream or cereal but they sure work well on everything else!

Oh gee thanks Angl. Now I want a tuna fish sandwich with banana peppers, even though I just ate a turkey sandwich and a yogurt cup with banana peppers....um, on the tuna, not the yogurt. You're right, tuna and the peppers is terrific.

Your body is probably lacking something.

I crave "greens" when my body is low on iron. Especially broccolli. But also jualopinos. (sp) And spinach.

turkey and banana peppers........hummm.......may have to stop by the store on the way home......P.S. They are great on a pizza too!!!

My mother went through a period where she craved pickle juice. Yuck. But her doctor told her that there was a mineral in the juice that she craved. I think that it was magnesium? But I might be wrong on the exact name.

Here is an article on pickle juice and muscle cramps. Maybe the bannana peppers have a similar effect.

Last night I went into the frig. for a drink and there they were, those pickled banana peppers rings staring at me, saying eat me! So I opened the jar and speared a couple on my finger - it's okay, I'm the only one that eats them - and starting chewing them off my finger.
DH - what on earth are you doing? Me - with a mouthful - ummm, nuthin.
