When do drakes get curly tail feathers?

My ducks are 2 1/2 months old. I know 1 is a pekin, not sure about the others. (I'll be posting a thread about that after this one.

) Am I right that you can't tell male from female until around 4 months old? And you can tell from their voice and curly feather at the base of their tail right?

You should be able to tell from their voice by now. Pick them up one at a time, the boys will say woooooonk, and the girls say quack! Mine sound more like a honk or like laughing, but the boys are always whaaaaa whaaa whaaaa. You tube duck gender quacking, you'll get a good idea! My drakes didn't get their tail curl until they were 4 months old, and my khaki Campbell started getting his green head around 3 months old.

You should be able to voice sex them between 6-9 weeks old. My girls were all quacking at 3-6 weeks and my boys got raspy at 9 weeks. Drake feathers come in around 14-16 weeks give or take. Check out this link on voice sexing http://www.majesticwaterfowl.org/artquacks.htm
