thanks

it that for both feeding and walking around or is that time line just for one.

thanks hokum

That would be for dropping seeds around the nest and walking around.

That is just a rough time line. You will find that it can very from one pair of pigeons to another. Every once in a while you get a runt that takes a lot longer to develop (who knows why).

I have two squabs right now that hatched only one day apart and one is a whole week ahead of the other in development.

They will develop just fine on their own 210175 as well. Once they fledge they will follow the parents who will teach them by being an example.

It is a good idea to teach them to feed and water early. You never know what can happen.

they are 17 days old now, do you think I can put some food in the nest box, or is it still to early, or is it ok to just chuck a couple seeds so the parents can eat in the nest box

I would try them with food and water.

What have you got to loose.
Just keep them supervised while you do (especially for the water).

They will catch on quick.

They should be fully cover with pin feathers by now almost fully fledged..

o they have got a lot of feathers they a tooooooooo cute. I first will try with food and later with water,

Just a last question my male pigeon is becoming really pecky towards its mate which is the parents of these squabs and I think they will mate soon but if the female sometimes gets really close he will peck at her and chase her around the loft. the male even seems to take the territory of one of the new nest boxes. will the pecking stop. she is not getting hurt. it is like playfull. could any one tell me what it is

He is courting her and they are getting ready to nest again. I wouldn't add food or water to the nest box with the babies most likely it's just going to get soiled. The parents will continue to feed the babies and when they leave the nest box they will teach them where the food and water is.

yay I cant wait for them to have eggs again. this morning I went to go check on the squabs and they are even learning to stand properly which is great. the heads a getting and starting to get full with the head feathers and as each day goes by they seem to get bigger and wiser.

Happy birthday my 18 day old squabs

When the cockbird pecks at and pursues his mate, it is called 'driving'. Some people feel that it stimulates egg production. Others think that he focuses solely on his mate to assure that no other male will breed her. Whatever the reason, generally within 10 days or so of 'driving' the hen will lay her first egg of the next round.
