This is my first time incubating eggs. I am only on day one, and everything I have read claims you should start candling on day 7. Can you candle the eggs any earlier? If so, what are you looking for. I don’t have too high hopes that my eggs are fertilized, and I hate to run the incubator for 7 days if they are all duds.

You can candle them everyday if youd like, if you start seeing veins forming you know they are good. I havent incubated duck eggs before but I'd assume the eggs are thicker? and might be harder to see veins thats why it might take longer to see visible signs.

Worst feeling is thinking an egg was no good then cracking them and finding veins... happened to me too many times with ameraucana eggs. Egg was too dark and couldnt see inside, while I should have waited another week or so on the ones I was unsure about.

Thank you! I thought about trying on day 5, but honestly I have no clue what I’m looking for. I may wait later to hopefully see veins a little easier if they are there.
