Where can I find WheatBran to raise mealworms or can I just use something else that's cheaper?

I've tried two feed stores and two grocery stores and none sell wheat bran.

Where can this be found? I live in the west side of Michigan in the lower peninsula.

We only have Meijer and Walmart for grocery stores.

If there is something else that I could feed them that's easy to find and cheap that would be great!

Also, where did you get your first batch of mealworms? I wonder if I can just get some locally from a bait store or something like that?

I had to use oatmeal, as the feed stores near us only carry rice bran. I ordered wheat bran from Vitacost.com last week. It was around $5 for 3 bags. They also have it on Amazon.

If you have a Tractor and Supply store, or similar store near you, they can usually order it in 50# bags. For small quantities, health food stores usually carry it and you can find it on Amazon or other places on line. I have also just used chick feed or rolled oats as the person above said.
Most pet stores sell meal worms.

I used some of my chicks starter food worked for me. My starter has oatmeal in it. I didn't have to spend more money than I had to.

My start was yesterday, bought 1,000 meal-worms at Pet-Co. $14.00. They sure are looking good this morning, a lot of activity and a carrot I put in with them is covered.

I bought 40 pounds of ground wheat (they don't call it wheat bran) at a local feed store. It is very fine and looks like flour. ($20.00) There are a lot of horse people around here, and apparently they use it with their horses.

In reading other posts, it appears a lot of people use many other foods with oats being one of them. Do some searches on Google and you can find a lot of ideas.

I just bought some mealworms and I bought oat bran for them because they didn't have wheat bran at my grocery store. I also bought water gel for them. I gave my hens mealworms for the first time yesterday and they went nuts so I think it would be so much cheaper to raise them instead of paying for them. My chicks loved them too!
