Just curious. When I look it up I find it’s an Australian term for a hen. Is there more to it? Does it apply to roosters, too, or would that be a chook and a roo? It’s a sweet sounding word, like a term of endearment.

My favorite chook and her roo, Sparky and Littlejohn.

Hi! Cute chooks!
I found this Q&A about the meaning and history of "chook", looks like it was a play on a word of endearment that found it's way to mean chicken!

“chook can be a general word for food and also a mildly insulting term for an old woman.” Lol
Lol! So, it can be a term of endearment for an old lady! It IS a dear sounding word. I think I’m going to try to work it into my vocabulary. Those Australians always sound so cool 😎🐔
