Where to buy Pekin bantam? (USA)

And if I understand right they are not a cochin because they are a true bantam right?

Hello, sorry you never got a response. The SOP may vary slightly by country but they are the same thing. Here in the US they are called Cochins and Pekins are the name used most everywhere else. I do not think they are a true bantam as they come in a LF variety. You will find many hatcheries and breeders selling them in various colors and feather patterns.

Yes, my understanding is that they decided in Europe that Cochin bantams visually differed too much from large fowl Cochins to be considered the same breed, so they opted to call them Pekin bantams over there. Here in the U.S. and Canada, they're still called Cochin bantams. They are considered a true bantam in Europe (and I believe Australia?) because they still call the large fowl version Cochin, and thus there's no large fowl version of the Pekin for them, making it a true bantam breed. So if you're wanting Pekin bantams in the U.S., you'll want to look for Cochin bantams. 🙂

I learn something new every day! I never knew that they called them Pekin. I was thinking that OP was looking for miniature Pekin ducks :lau
