This was asked a year ago, did not get a lot of response and the links with pics posted does not work. I am deciding on a standard or bantam flock and would greatly appreciate your professional opinions. Thanks very much!!!

This is an unusual question as most/All bantam breeders breed for Small birds and eggs and have done so for quite some time. If you want a bantam sized chicken that lays a bigger egg you may want to use a cross bred bird or possibly the offspring of a bantam X standard trying to capture the bigger egg size while keeping the bird size smaller....I would doubt you will find any true bantam breeders that claim they have Big eggs from their birds....that would essentially tell you the breeder was breeding away from the true standard towards bigger birds/eggs...again I doubt any breeder will admit they are trying to breed bigger bantams.

I have a cute little D'Uccle hen that lays almost every day. I am astounded that an egg that size can come from such a little body. Her eggs are the size of a small std egg, sort of a pinky brown. My Bantam Cochins lay eggs that look like little ping pong balls.

A while back someone that lived down the road sold me a bantam X isa brown (he didnt say what kind of bantam) and it layed an egg that was the same size as my EE's (large) so maybe you could try a cross similar to that...

My Bantam Orpingtons lay rather large eggs for bantams. They are a light tan to pale brown in color. Bantam orps I believe are one of the larger "bantam" breeds that I have seen? All I know is that they are awesome birds to have!
