Hi,

We get mild winters and hot summers in my area. I tend to have low summer egg production, but non-stop from October to May/June.

What breeds could I add that you have experience to keep laying during summer heat waves?

All the Leghorns and anconas. My Americaunas, legbars and barred rocks have done okay, too. I am trying out some Minorcas this year. What doesn't do well here for me (South Louisiana): Brahmas, Orpingtons, Delawares

Our white leghorns and black Australorps seem to handle the summers best here in the desert.
hello, just to confirm, by "handle the summers" you mean they keep laying eggs through the summer heat, or you mean just not dying of stroke?

Leghorns are unbeatable for masses of eggs. Our summers are usually 90-100 deg. temp and 80-90% humidity. They don't slow down at all. I did switch from white leghorns to brown ones because predators (esp.night predators) target the white birds.
