New to all things Geese related, but especially hatching them.
Rescued 3 white Chinese Geese (1 Gander, 2 Goose).
This has been about 8-9 months. When I got them the lady said they were all “about 2”. Said that she has never gotten eggs, but didn’t know if they started laying later than her ducks. She “heard from a friend” they start around 2 years old.
Anyhoooo, Daisy has started laying eggs and couldn’t care less about her nest.
I took about 13, left about 5.
She still didn’t care.
Each day, she has laid another egg. We are at 19.
Everything I see on line says incubate at 55% for incubation and 75% for hatching. Now one of the good OldTimes from Church says 30-40% for the first 26 days, then increase to 65-70% to hatch.
Is there a definitive answer?

it depends on your weather and the size of the eggs. 55% for incubation and for the last 3 days 75% are the standard. Im in Colorado we have a dry climate and those work well for me with I play with the incubator every year last year we had a humid spring and ended up going down to 40% and 75.

Its all about the air cells and how there developing and weight loss of the eggs. Ideally you want them to loose 15% of there weight by hatch. Chinese eggs are known for hatching around 28-29 days my Heavyweight hatch around 30-32 days.
