Trying to narrow my list for new chicks this spring. Which breeds have you found to be flighty?

Leghorns for one, sure there is some others. But really not a big deal if your not making lap pets out of them. I've had them didn't bother me. They just tend to run away and avoid you when feeding them etc. Flighty can actually be a good thing if you free range in a predator prone area.
Actually most my birds of various breeds tend to be flighty but I don't really interact with them much. The only one's I've had that were calm are jersey giants and naked necks.

By flighty I am meaning tending to fly over the fence when roaming free in the back yard. I do want chickens that like to be handled as well.

My Sebright was beautiful and you could get close to her, but if you cornered her or tried to pick her up, she was flying everywhere. If you are looking for friendly not flighty birds, Cochin and Bantam Cochins are great. For flighty, any heavy breed would work.

Flighty Breeds, or breeds that can be flighty.

Black Sumatra

Malays(They maybe heavy, but can get over a fence)

CrackerFowl/Red JungleFowl hybrids

Leghorns

Black Copper Marans(I had one that kept escaping)

These are a few I have experience with.

I favor heavier-breed girls who don't fly over fences. My favorites, for that reason, are Cochins, Wyandottes, Faverolles, Buckeyes and my chicken queen, a Buff Orpington.

My Bantam Cochins don't go over fences, but little Sally has proven she can fly well enough to land on top of a 4-foot run that had a dish of food on top. The other Cochin Bantams are content to wait for me to serve their meals.
