I failed her. She had an impacted crop that I didn't catch soon enough, and it turned into sour crop, and I tried, but I failed her. I'm so sorry. I'll try to be better for the others. I love you, Rosy.

I'm so sorry about your loss. Sometimes these things are just out of our control. Don't beat yourself up about it, If I did every time I lost a chicken I'd be pretty crushed by now. Just try to take it as a learning experience, that always seems to help me a little bit. So sad about Rosy, and we're all here for you if you need us. Just remember, you did everything you could, and sometimes these things are out of our control. I had a chicken with (I think) Coccidiosis and by the time I finally noticed it she was gone the next day. Just goes to show that anything can happen and anything can be missed. It's incredibly hard, but It was not your fault.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost one to a prolapsed vent a couple years ago and I have no idea how I didn't notice it until it was too late. Poor thing. Yeah, I'll always feel the guilt. Lesson learned, though. I toss scratch out to them every afternoon now just for the express purpose of looking them over and making sure I catch anything that might be going on with them early, before it gets completely out of hand. You can only do what you can do. Chickens may be hardy, but honestly, it seems they're always looking for ways to die. Please don't beat yourself up too much.
