Short story: I've had 3 Pekins since April 2016. A friend gave us their 4, who are just reaching maturity, but that's too many for us. We were very content with the three. If you live in the Wichita area, & would like to adopt a few, please contact me. One is a drake.
Long story:
Last Spring, I bumped into a friend of my son's, who was purchasing baby chickens & ducks. I had a feeling that she may be getting in over her head (considering that she lives IN town), so I made the mistake of offering to help out, if she had questions or discovered she needed to re-home a few.
Well....I got the call, a week ago, that they wanted to get rid of their four Pekins; 3 hens & a drake.
I have three 1 yr old Pekin hens, who lay consistently. So far, one of hers is has begun to lay. It's new to the process, so she drops an egg, wherever, in the yard. The drake is doing his thing. We've already had enough of the duck porn, going on in the wading pool, every time we go out to sit & drink our coffee/beer. As of this morning, we know he's doing a good job. The yolks have red dots, instead of white dots. SO, if you would like a drake, or a few young Pekins, or BOTH, please contact me. If you live in the Wichita area, my hubby is willing to deliver them to you. We're going to our Tractor Supply (Augusta), this Saturday, the 15th, for their swap meet. We never intended to go into the duck/duck egg business. lol. I already give away most of my three's eggs.

Thank you, Yorkshire Coop. My hubby told me I should have kept my post simple. lol. He said, just write: free ducks. Also, I couldn't find the re-home forum. I've been away from BYC too long. Gotta get used to the format, again.
