Wild turkey eggs rescued and on day 31. I assumed thy werent brooded and verified nice veining at beginning then let them be. Just dared to candle in case thy are ready to explode bc i set temp at 99.5 and found that wild hens keep their temp 100-102. But thgt id just have slow hatch rate at 99.5, not demise. I see airsac, plus total dark area. And nothing was moving in the 3seconds i had them out. can someone link me to some informative articles? I spritzed w warm H20 and put them back. What is the danger of one rolling over? As i removed the turn interv wheel, thy can roll? Will thy roll on their own?

Yes. Ive read so many conflicting reports. I think candle til i see movement is going to be in order?
The only reason I would entertain that you still may have a hatch is because you’ve obviously had development if you went from spider veins to blackness.

Otherwise, 28 days is their incubation period and 99.5F is the right temp. A hen’s body temp is not the same temp the eggs are incubated at. Her feathers insulate herself. It won’t be as hot under her as it is inside of her.

How have you been turning them, and how often?
