I've been told it'll be completely blue when it's older but I wanted to ask about it here since it has more white than the average penguin colored chick (and I'm still learning chicken genes). You can see the wing feathers in the white patch all growing in white at the moment, although the father carries mottling so maybe that has something to do with the white besides other stuff happening. The mother is a black langshan, the father is a dark blue birchen silkie mix.
I haven't done a whole lot of breeding with langshans so I thought the chicks would be all be black or blue with mottling or birchen since that's what usually hatches out.
Slightly unrelated but the nostril pigmenting is adorable.
