Adirondack Mountain winter coming fast and I’m not prepared with my new coop. 6 chickens. 5 hens and a rooster. Any tips on warming the coop and also water supply? Thanks!
Unless you get sustained periods of cold -10F or greater there's no need for heat. You may need more ventilation up high if those windows are the only available vents.
Can you run power out to the coop and run? A heated waterer is a reliable way to provide water below freezing.
I am in Michigan and have never heated the coop. I think you will find most people in very cold climates do not heat the coop. We keep birds that acclimate.
