Wyandotte hen or roo?

My lovely Wanda is just shy of 16 weeks old and I thought we were out of the woods with all of the chicks being pullets but her tail feathers are giving me anxiety. What do you think?

Here's my other Wyandotte (same age) for comparison:

When I look at the other for comparison, it looks kinda like a roo, but I don’t have much experience with Wyandottes.

Same, compared to the other one it looks like a cockerel. Alone, however, it kind of looks more like a girl.

Hmmmm.... I don’t like to be the barrer of bad news but I see saddle feathers and compared to the other (which is a pullet) it does look like a cockerel, also the comb is a deeper red and the legs are bigger than its comparison. You can also tell that the rooster has a much taller stance than the hens.

Yes and much smaller now even though she was the biggest initially.

We have male and female GLW. I just looked through pics to see if I could give you a similar age comparison. She does look female, but interestingly different than the others.


This was at approx 16 weeks - pretty close in age to yours. Notice the male and female GLW on left side of the pic, male is behind the female. his back pattern is quite distinct from the female.

This is 5-6 weeks later, so older than yours. Clearly a male

same day - other side!

Same day - female GLW (so approx 5 months old)

So overall, the males won't have lacing on their back generally as you can see in the pics at this age.

Thanks everyone! @Acre4Me you've given me hope!!! She's such a sweetheart and so pretty but I definitely cannot keep a roo. It would break my heart to have to rehome her.

She looks like a pretty girl to me so

Her comb might just be red cause she’s getting ready to lay maybe?
