Hello, I need any sort of help figuring out what could be wrong with my chicken. Unfortunately, a vet is not an option for me, but I wish you do anything I can to help this chicken survive
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
Wyandotte, 6.5 years old
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Extremely lethargic, will sit fluffed up on the ground all day, will not eat or drink on her own for the past week at least and we've had to syringe liquid mash of her feed and yogurt every day
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
Around 12-14 days ago we noticed she was being a little off as in standing around in one spot but would still respond to treats. About 7 days ago we say she was no longer walking up the ramp into the coop to sleep and we brought her inside the house to start investigating what's wrong and start feeding by syringe
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
No, we have one Australorp of the same age and two younger barred rocks that are healthy
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
Nothing seen
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
I don't know of anything
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
We've been feeding yogurt and liquid mash twice a day by syringe for the past week
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
A yellow liquid with green solids kind of poop. Pictures are attatched
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
We've been treating under the estimated guess of vent gleet. On day 1 we gave her baytril, but stopped when we read further that people suggest against antibiotics for vent gleet. For the past 7 days we've been giving her Epsom salt baths, feeding her liquish mash with apple cider vinegar, feeding her yogurt for the probiotics, and applying athletes foot cream around the vent and about a 1/2 inch inside the vent hole
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
Vet is unfortunately not an option for our situation, so we'll need to do it ourselves
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Normal bedding is pine chips which are replaced weekly. For the past week she's been living inside the house with towels and dog potty pads
