Once again I find myself on the day I am heading out for a 6 day vacation and something ND crops up.

One of my 16 week old pullets is having watery diarrhea. She’s acting normal, seems to be eating fine, etc. but the fecal mass is low, she’s pooping frequently and it’s watery.

My mother will be looking after them while I’m away and I need to know if I should act on this or what?

They are on 20% protein Dumor chicken starter grower,
Recently weaned off medicated mannapro

Could it be the bump
Up in protein? The incredible heat and humidity? (Gong to be 87 today with high humidity making it feel like mid 90s) The overnight droppings are wetter than they have been but not quite as scanty as this.

I’d totally stay home if I could but this is a family thing and my daughter has been looking forward to going on vacation. They’re her chickens but she’s 5 so it’s up to me to be sure they don’t all kick off while we’re gone and my mother is 67 and not a chicken person and lives 30 minutes away so I’m losing my mind.

They have many waterers, one of which I’ve put in sav-a-chick and probiotics … this started yesterday and I was wondering if it was just a one off but it’s apparently not.

Thanks.

If the weather has turned warm, then the birds will drink more. Poop is usually more loose and watery.

A change in feed can also affect the digestive system too.

That said, if all her poop continues to look like that, I'd be inclined to treat everyone with Corid. I see it's a bit mucosy and there's intestinal shedding in there - not overly concerning unless it's consistent like this.

Liquid Corid dose is 2tsp or Powdered Corid Dose is 1 1/2tsp per gallon of water given for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water.
Do not add any extra vitamins/electrolytes that contain B1(Thiamine) to food or water during the course of treatment.
