It appears like this article is unfinished. The coop was looking well, and I would have liked to see how it turned out. :(

Unique idea and simple article on it. The article did include measurements, but I would like to have seen more building instructions and possibly the wire top (and how that worked).

Teflon Poisoning in Birds

Very interesting article on this topic. I would like to have seen more info on this, including the exact temperature your Teflon cookware was when your chicken was exposed to the poisonous gasses and had a reaction. I would also like to see more studies supporting this and proof that this is what caused the issue with your bird, and not some other underlying issues.

Took the bird to the vet. Perfect health. X-rays, stool & blood workup. No underlying diseases or health conditions. Middle-aged.

Temperatures vary from mid to high heat. The out gassing is usually detectable by odor it gives off. None w/stainless steel.

We noticed every time we cooked w/new non-stick cookware our bird would go down.

Looked it up and there is a plethora of articles on this issue. Cookware companies are not going to tell you this of course. Reason I did not name the manufacturer because we didn't want to get sued.

Strange that most companies have renamed their coatings but when you investigate you find out it's Teflon. They claim to have removed the offending substance but I suspect there is something else in the coating that's deadly.

When bird had a seizure and almost died we woke up.

Usually Teflon is deadly and birds do not survive.

I can't tell you what to do but we have sided with caution and removed all non-stick and went back to stainless.

The bird got better immediately and returned to his behaviors in December prior to using the non-stick cookware.

I believe we should be cautious of new products as history has taught us again and again they usually have side effects. Some deadly.

Very simple to read article. The list of suggestions were very helpful. I do suggest adding a disclaimer that some fruits, vegetables, and herbs are unsafe for chickens and should be fully researched before putting into the chickens' frozen treat. Otherwise great article. Giving chickens frozen treats is always a good thing and it was nice reading this article for ideas.

A very detailed and informative article. This article proves that close watch on your flock helps diagnose issues early on. It was very interesting how finding the problem was done and how well it worked. I learned a lot on how different factors with the poop can mean different things and what they exactly meant.

Needs more details on the build and the process. Great pictures.
A simple article on the question of whether or not chickens have teeth. The article did well explaining what a chicken has instead of teeth, including how things work in their digestive system to grind down their food.

A very informative article! I have often wondered if bananas were safe for chickens and was always concerned that they weren't, so I never fed them any. This article not only said that they are safe but proved that they are safe for chickens to eat. The section on Are Bananas Good for Chickens in this article helped clear up any doubts I had. I always keep frozen bananas in my freezer and after reading this article, I would like to offer them to my chickens for a treat this summer.

Lots of great pictures of the building process. This is a beautiful coop and I love the stone siding around that window! There's no measurements of the build, sadly. Adding more details might help others who would like to copy this design.

Awesome and simple article on explaining this wonderful site! I know for me, just hanging out on BYC has given me more experience in chicken keeping from listening to other people try things and state the results. I may have never tried or even had thought of some of the things I've learned on here but I've stumbled across threads that educated me. Also, because of hanging around on BYC alone, I've been able to name my chickens' health issues faster and get help for them, just by learning what it was months before the issue occurred on BYC. This is really a great site to hangout on and learn. Thanks for posting this article.

A well written article on feeding treats to your chickens. The article did really well covering how treats should be fed in moderation and why. Towards the end of the article, it included a small list of healthy treats that you can feed your chickens (feeding chickens chicken kinda creeped me out, though I've heard of it before) and a list of things that should not be fed to your chickens.
(I enjoyed seeing other member's pictures in this article and them credited.)
