    Show Me Your Pallet Projects!

Most of the pallets that I have obtained over the years have come from the loading dock of Dunham's Sports. The delivery drivers NEVER reuse them at the Dunham's at my mall. The managers were always glad to have them removed it kept them from having to clean up the mess. I am the Supervisor of...

    Show Me Your Pallet Projects!

Malls!! Check the loading docks at Malls and behind strip shopping stores. I've worked at a mall for 20 years. People with trucks or trailers come around every day and night to pilfer the pallets from the loading docks and areas behind the stores. Just say'in. ;)

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

My Ladies are on fire! We got 14 today from 18 hens. That's the most they have layed since Oct. I saw a video that said the feed from Tractor Supply was causing chickens to stop laying. NOT TRUE with my girls. They have not stopped laying all year. They slowed down for a few months but have...

    Coop in progress

Nice job! I love repurposing stuff. You have given me an Idea for another coop. I have one of those playsets that was used while my 6 grandchildren lived with me for 10 years. Looking forward to seeing the completed coop. Now if you could please hand me one of those Dos Equis I think I spy...

    Show Me Your Pallet Projects!

Thanks for the reply. The roof is raised above the walls leaving an inch around the top of the walls for ventilation and there is no floor in the bottom of the coop it is open to the ground. The run is covered with netting that is over the roof and the runs. They cannot access the roof. There...

Buying my chickens a new house.

I have 2 of those 8x8 pens on either side of one of my coops. I attached them to the coop with tunnels that I made out of 2"x2"s and 1/2x1/2 wire. I love the pens. My neighbor has a coop like the one you are considering. I'm not sure of its condition. Most prefab coops don't seem to be sturdy...

    Hi! New member here

Welcome FarmerFergie, I made poop hammocks for my coops. Heavy duty tarps and 1x2s. Hung under the roosting bars. I empty them twice a week into a 5' deep hole that I found on my property and use some for our garden. We sprinkle Sweet PDZ on the fresh poop every morning to control the odor. The...

The coop is on the property!!!

Yes they are dry stacked and haven't moved at all. Most of the lower level are well under ground with rebar in the corners driven a couple of feet down into the hard TN clay and the coop weighs about 1800lbs. Been there since Oct 2020. I would have staggered them if I was going to cement them.
