These bucket traps work for rats too. They just have to be a lot bigger and deeper (like kitchen trash can sized) as rats tread water a lot better than mice.

Mice make good fertilizer too. I keep pigeons and like to keep the local crows happy (hawk patrol) so I’ll feed them the mice as well. I have them conditioned to expect to find dead mice on top of an old swing set we have lol

The bucket traps are awesome. You put a little peanut butter and maybe some feed stuck to the peanut butter. There’s no need to reset the trap and the bait lasts for a while because the mice just slide right past it. You do want to be diligent with emptying it though or else it gets disgusting
