Thanks for all the info guys! I'm just outside Ft Worth and have been wondering who we contact to get certified to sell eggs and chicks at our local FM and even from our farm.

They have to be P.T. tested prior to selling, Each test is anywhere from $4 to $28, depending on where it's done and which type of test they do. Ridiculous when you get a new bird or birds you just isolate them from your own flock for a bit anyway. I get requiring this test for show birds, but not your average barn mix hens! OH well-so much for smaller government! Happy farming!Does anybody know what you need to sell chickens legally in Texas?
Certificate stating they've been tested and are P. T. free.I just dont know what papers you have to have. I know you have to have your stock tested for Pullium/typhoid. Other than that what do you need? Someone told me there was a card of something he had that let him sell at trade days and things like that.
It may be a newer law but from what I've researched to sell them you must put a label on them with date hatched, that they are fresh and ungraded.to sell to a restuarant you are required to be certified for something?Lol, can`t. remember what, but something! You do not have to have any certs for selling the eggs, check with your FM to see if they have rules. The state requires that the eggs are washed, refrigerated to 45' and below . To sell chicks, Chickens and fertile eggs in the State of Texas you have to be Pullorum & Thyphoid Free Certified. This is a free service. To ship out of state you will have to Bird flu cerftified. That is the certification that was showing in the other post and there is a fee for that testing.
https://tvmdl.tamu.edu/poultry/flock-owner-information/How is the Pullorium/Typoid testing done? I'm glad that it is free. When I clicked on and read the application at this link: https://www.tahc.texas.gov/animal_health/poultry/04-07_Poultry-FowlRegistration.pdf, I understood that I don't have to fill out the form if I am only selling the hatching/eating eggs and live fowl/chicks from my residence. Did I get that right? Above I think someone said that the Pullorium/Typoid testing is also optional? So, if I only plan to sell the hatching/eating eggs and live fowl/chicks from my residence only, do I not need anything? No certifications or licenses?
Thank you.https://tvmdl.tamu.edu/poultry/flock-owner-information/
Price is set by the tester and there is a county map of testers on the site. Looks like all eggs and birds need to be PT tested regardless of where you’re selling from and shows require this at the door.
The NPIP program is optional.
