Muscovy x Mallard?

So I saw something pretty ridiculous yesterday and I have to mention it here . There's a 'wild' (not really) flock of 10-12 muscovy ducks that visit the area. They pretty much just waddle around to all the houses and get food from everyone. Yesterday I spotted one of the big drakes prancing around with 5 mallard hens in tow. Usually the mallards are with a mallard drake that I see often, but it looks like they changed their minds.

Can they even mate with the muscovy? What would the resulting cross be? Can't wait to see if they bring ducklings around .

Yes they can mate with muscovy, although considering the size difference it's not a good idea for the mallard hens. They will make hybrids called mule ducks/hinnies and the hybrid ducks look really cool, but are infertile and can't make babies themselves.

A neighbor mentioned seeing one of the ducks with a ton of ducklings recently, but I've yet to see them come around. Hopefully she visits and I can see them too!
