New to chickens and coop

The coop should be done this weekend. Hooray! I cant wait for my babies to have more room. I do have a question about the area where they lay their eggs (im sure there is a name for it) Do you need to make a area for each individual hen, or can they all lay in one long communal area.
 
Finally a question that I can answer.

From my observations I believe that chickens like their privacy. Individual boxes is preferred (connected is fine). They are called a laying box, or a nesting box. You only need one for every eight or so chickens.

If you look on the homepage, you will see a post about how someone's hens all like the same nesting box! (Even though there are several in the coop.) Usually you can have one nesting box for about three or four chickens...
