Rooster Cheek Swollen - Possible Illness

Okay. I have three last questions about his eyes: A.) Should the saline flushing occur routinely along with the ointment or just once? B.) Should I use drops or a trickle to flush the eyes? C.) How should I apply the ointment to his eyes? I don't know if I should use my finger or a q-tip or something and if I rub it into the eye or just thinly apply it. I don't want to hurt him by doing it wrong. If you have any links to a visual demonstration that would be great.

Trickle a few drops of the saline into the eye to rinse it. Wipe off outside of the eye. Open the eye with fingers, and apply a small dab of the ointment into the eye with the tube. Try not to get the tube into the eye.

Old thread but hopefully this'll show up to some people. Anyway I'm at home again and I noticed the rooster was doing a weird silent gasping thing. I've read that it can be a symptom of respiratory illness or worms. I'll try to figure it out but I also decided to take a video. His swollen cheek is still there. While I was gone my family didn't treat his eye issue but now I'll be able to do so. Other than that he seems to be doing well; he's interacting with the other hens and doing his normal behavior but he could be hiding his issues so I'm keeping an eye on it.
