Aside from watering, again... when is it ever going to rain aaaggghh!!! I decided to harvest one potato plant early and dug up some baby spuds. They look a little green in that image, but I swear it's just the camera.
Picked green beans, they snuck up in me and I don't have the canning lids yet so I froze them this go round. The pressure-canner will get the next few patches, and then I might make some dilly beans this year. Also Weeded and trained the mouse melons.
@deepbluesea love the sunflower with the brick in the background. Very pretty.
We had some heavy wind and horizontal rain yesterday afternoon. Hubs did some straightening up last night and I finished this morning. Raked the yard while it was damp, less dust that way. It's very muggy out there, dripping sweat and clothes were soaked. It looks good though The straw in the coop yard really helps with moisture retention in the soil. Now that I know what the chickens won't eat, I'm planting bushes in there again that will shade the surrounding walls in summer to reduce heat.
This happened more than once, but I am wiser now.
A sunflower plant poops up in my garden. I am assuming that squirrels planted the seed since I feed them sunflower all the time. I nurse it and fertilize as well. Then the reality kicks in. It' a WEED.....
This is what would grow.
wow well we had the great pleasure of placing hardwire where the crazy white dog showed us she could get in with the chickens, stopping for a well deserved cold piece of pizza for my brunch
