why do 2 of my ducklings have a white ring around their neck?

im curious because they are rouen and crested mix and i have 4 2 of them have the white ring around their neck and the other two dont.

The white ring is an incompletely dominant trait (to the best of my research). I have spent the last five years trying to use that trait to develop a duck that I can sex at hatch with that characteristic. The trait does NOT appear to be sex specific unfortunately. But it's sure been fun to have a plausible excuse to use when folks want to know WHY anyone would hatch and rear a hundred ducks a year!

I have swedish/mallard mixes, and 1 has a ring instead of a bib... What do you DO with a hundred ducks a year?
