I live in a place where you can easily find cuttle fish bones on the beaches and I would like to give them to my chickens can I? Ps. Just if it matters they are young silkies

Sorry I just don't know but, when people wake up on here, I'm sure you find responses from thus who do know.

The only "cuttle bone," I remember was something we bought and hung in the canary's cage. He loved it. I had no idea it comes from fish.

It comes from a squid like animal and your thinking of its bone and that is what I would like to know about

Absolutely! I use them all the time on my quail and chickens. They are very high in calcium and digest easy if not easier than oystershell. If these birds are not yet of laying age, hold off on the cuttle bones until they are laying.

Great to have you and enjoy BYC!

Glad you joined us! I think cuttlebone would be fine, but I'd be wary about beach-gathered cuttle bone being full of bacteria/other harmful organisms.
