This is Usain, she is my number one lap chicken! We got her as a chick from Tractor Supply.. she is Easter EGGER and lays blue eggs. She just went through her first molt and all of her new feathers are outstanding!

I put 4 week olds out on 40 degree evenings with a rentacoop hot plate. They all decided to sleep ONTOP of the hot plate.. so i removed it and they did just fine. It’s in the 80s now and next week is going to be highs in the 50’s and rain.. they’ll be 6 weeks and 9 weeks and they will be JUST...

These are the predators: hawks of all kinds. Skunk, raccoon, coyote, mountain lion, bear, bob cats, dogs, fox, cats, rattlesnakes, rat snakes, gopher snakes. So far i have not lost ONE of my flock from a predator. I totally ascribe this to my wonderful rooster.
