Hen very sick - sour crop and milky white poop

Thank you. We are setting up a time to have a neighbor farmer put her down later this week. In the meantime I'll see how she acts if I take her outside in the fresh air.

@Eggcessive Do you have any more suggestions? She is not looking good. Head down, tail down, not eating, face seems to be quite pale now...Would putting her back in with the flock make her feel better during her last days?

I agree with you that something else must be going on. I will wait for more opinions. Thank you so much for your help and suggestions.

Tuffet is finished with the miconazole and antibiotic treatments now and is showing little improvement. She's still lethargic, crop doesn't seem to be moving (not filled with brown liquid though), comb is still dark. Maybe a slight improvement in appetite but she's still barely eating...

Great, thanks! That is the dose I used before on another chicken.

What dosage would you recommend? I have found several different dosages around the internet.

I'm not sure if her abdomen feels unusual or not. I'll have to bring in a healthy chicken to compare. It doesn't feel very tight to me, but maybe is a little distended. I have dealt with ascites before and done the draining and to me it wasn't worth it. I can certainly try to give her some...

The darkening of the comb means the heart and/or lungs are struggling, right? I think it's probably ascites.

No clue. I was not able to tell which egg belonged to which hen. But I have six light brown egg layers (one is up there in age) and I have been getting a maximum of only four eggs in the last few weeks. I have seen hens in the nest boxes and she has not been one of them for a while.

Her crop is filling up again and she is not interested in food, even scrambled egg and yogurt. I couldn't see any wounds on her head. Here are some photos I got today.

I do have a hen who mounts the others hens like a rooster and sometimes falls forward off of their necks/heads.

I'm not really sure. She's not adjusting her crop. It's like she doesn't want to lift her head. She doesn't really look at me when I walk into the room.

She looks pretty much the same as she did yesterday. She is slow but still moving around a little and fights me when I give her the miconazole. I noticed she is looking down a lot. I'll try to see if she's interested in some cooked egg and yogurt tomorrow.

Hen very sick - sour crop and milky white poop

She's looking much better today. Yesterday she looked like she was dying but today her tail is up, she's talking more, walking around, and roosting. I withheld food overnight and most of today then gave her some food (different brand) this afternoon and she ate it. She got her first dose of...

Okay, thanks! I'll see how she looks in the morning and if she's still responsive I'll go get the miconazole while I'm in town.

Hen very sick - sour crop and milky white poop

I found my nearly two-year-old Brahma hen, Tuffet, on the floor of the coop looking very sick this evening. We didn't notice anything abnormal with her yesterday. I separated her from the flock and brought her inside for treatment and observation. Her symptoms are: Crop overflowing with...
