Found out one died while I was at work
Just wishful thinking Iām pretty sure. Came home tonight and she immediately scooted out of that corner when I fed them. The eggs all were cold to the touch too so I scrapped the project. Weāll see if she tries again sometime.I ended up w 12 cots and 2 buts hatched for mon the 30th
I think id have to let her do it too and i wanted to suggest do u have any small gerbil or rat cages you could use to seclude her in place by just placing it over her? Donno how ur set up but thats how id work the issue
Not sure what's typically but I lose about 5-10% after hatch. The larger the batch the lower the percentage. Losing 5 of 100 is no big deal, but losing 5 of 20 hurts. There always seems to be a few though no matter what. What percentage of mortality rate after hatch for quail is typical

you been gone alot is the baby here?
It's going to be butcher weekend I think...
I am planning to cull 8-10 quail cocks, 1 drake duck, and 2 turkey hens (if they are large enough when I weigh them). Should be 30 lbs of meat going into the freezer. That's 3 weeks worth of dinner and some lunches.
I will take pics for those who are not squeamish.Awesome!!
