He looks lavender to me -- he isn't white. White muscovy are true white like pekins [I have a white muscovy drake with blue eyes. He has a love hate relationship with my white pekin drake. Its sometimes difficult to see who is chasing whom in the rush of white feather!]

What would you say his pattern is? His babies have almost a ripple pattern but it's hard to tell since their feathers are still coming in.

I don't know what is his pattern. He's a handsome boy, whatever his pattern! I only have drakes and so don't breed ducks and have no experience of ducky genetics

Maybe @Canadian Wind can help?
I'll be sure to ask!!! This is our first time with ducks in general and my sister picked moscovy since they are quite and big!! The moma is sitting on another batch of eggs due in June so we are pretty excited to see what these next ones will look like!!

Pattern is Whitehead, unsure if he has Ripple or Barred in him though. And I'm also unsure about his colour, he could be either Silver (most probable) or Lavender I'd say.

Momma is a Whitehead Blue.

As for the babies, the one with the reddish chest is probably Whitehead Silver. Those feathers will moult out. You've also got a Blue that is developing a Whitehead.

Blue is a partial dominant, which means only one copy of the gene is needed to show. If a baby gets two copies, then they are Silver.

As for those two white babies with the tan tails...

Okay, I'm stumped! Lol! @Pyxis can you help? :)

I like to use these 2 sites to help figure out colors. Btw your drake is gorgeous no matter the color!

At the bottom of the second link page there is a pdf file with colors you can expect from pairing certain colors of drakes with different colors of females. I found both sites to be very interesting and informative. Especially the pairings that produce sex linked offspring. Check it out when you get a chance.🙂
