We dump used cat litter along the fence lines. Keeps the weeds down, the irises love it and no gophers. I live in the woods and the cats have to leave home to catch gophers and moles. They're thick just over the fence in the pastures and woodlot. Haven't seen any snakes come in the back or sides of the yard either-
There was a time you could buy "tiger urine" that was supposed to keep everything out of your yard. You have to wonder where they got commercial quantities of tiger tinkle... and how they stored it...
It must have worked- you can't buy it anymore.
We also used yo plant castor beans around the fence and garden- but I was told you can't buy them any more...
