Today a polite red fox came to visit my garden and admire my ducks, turkeys, and chickens..

It was a good thing I was there to scare the fox away. This is the first fox visit I have ever had with this new spring clutch. My fence is really short that even my turkeys jump out of it often, which means it’s no problem for the fox.

It’s impossible to mask the scent of 10 chickens, 4 turkeys, and 4 ducks, so is there any other way to keep these foxes away during the day time? My birds go to a secure coop at night and I open them to roam in my yard in the morning.

I’ve been looking online for an electric fence, and it seems to work well. Do you guys have any experience with them? Will foxes find a way to get past electric netting?

If that doesn’t work then should I get a solar animal repellent (flashes lights and makes sounds when it detects movements) or will the fox get past that?

Please let me know, my fat pekins have no chance against the fox.

Have a lot of experience with coyotes, foxes, raccoons, and pretty much everything. Pretty much my chickens can only free rain the last maybe hour or two of daylight when I’m outside with them. Otherwise I just expanded their run with a cover over the top. It’s 6 foot tall and some places in 8 foot and others, I unfortunately can’t get something like a dog to deter the predators because I’m at work so often that would be a very sad and lonely dog. But that is correct it seems that the scent of dogs keep them away well (not always completely)
