Help! My ducklings have pipped and haven’t hatched!

I have some ducklings that are working on hatching, but haven’t yet. Five others hatched already, but needed me to assist them all. I think they were all accidentally shrink wrapped or something, because they started hatching early before I had set up the incubator for lockdown.

My last 2 ducklings internally pipped 2 days ago but weren't progressing and I didn't want them to die in their eggs, so I opened the air cell. I could still see lots of veins so I applied coconut oil and let them be for a while. I've reapplied oil a couple times but still see a few veins.

I'm not sure what to do - I don't want them to have problems from being in their eggs too long, but I don't feel that I can help them hatch while I see veins.

Can someone out there give me tips on what to do? Will they be okay if I wait a bit longer?

Ducklings usually externally pip 12-24 hours after they internally pip, and hatch 24-48 hours after they externally pip.

Since you opened up the eggs, they never externally pipped, which means they'll probably hatch 36-72 hours after the internal pip, possibly longer.

Hatching takes a long time. :) You're right that you can't help them hatch if you see veins. Even after the veins have receded, it usually takes them yet a little longer to finish absorbing the yolk sac.

Thank you so much! I'll just wait a bit longer then. Good to know that they take so long - it's my first time with ducks. I've only incubated chickens till now. :)
