Hi! I'm new to BYC, and I'm thrilled there are so many people here for the inevitable tide of questions I'm going to have. I'm planning to acquire three hens this spring to keep in my city backyard. Of course, first I have to build the coop...possibly as part of my detached garage.

I'm leaning toward Australorp chickens. I can hardly wait to get started!

You might look on ebay for coops too. I found a small one for about 5-6 hens for about $250... Some assembly required

Welcome to BYC. I know you will enjoy being here and BA's would be an excellent choice. I've been real happy with mine, steady layers even with this cold weather.
