Hello, my mother's boss is really rich and when she heard that I hatched button quail, she started talking about me raising like, 50 meat quail and selling them to her. My question is, which kind of quail gets the biggest and is most commonly raised for meat? I really am clueless when it comes to anything other than horses and chickens, Thanks

I raise Jumbo Cortunix....these birds get HUGE....just check out my quail page on my website for pics.

Brooster, how big do your Texas A&M get? How much do they weigh at maturity? How much do they weight after processing?

I just hatched some Texas A&M and we are planning on raising them for meat and eggs, so I was wondering what their mature weight is.

Thanks!

It is hard to fine places that sell chicks as quail chicks dont stand up well to shipping. Lake Cumberland gamebirds I think sells chicks. You have to get around 50 chicks I think.
And who knows what shipping will do as far as mortality.
I sell eggs....if you are ever interested.

Personally, I think the shipping is harder on the chicks than the eggs...
I ordered 100 eggs, and got a 50% hatch rate. I'm sure Sam's would be even higher...
