Speckled Sussex 12 weeks

I bought this bird as a cockerel as a chick. Just bought four pullet chicks to go with him. It is a cockerel right? He’s with a bunch of pullets the same age of different breeds and doesn’t have much comb still or terribly rooster like behavior.

Here's a photo of my SS rooster at almost exactly 12 weeks old. He had a much bigger comb and was pretty obviously a boy at that point. If I'm not mistaken your SS looks a bit like a girl to me. (But I am not experienced at all)

Hello! I am new to keeping chickens and only have ever had one rooster. He is a Speckled Sussex too! I thought it might be helpful if I shared a photo of him for comparison. This is him at 9 weeks.

Well rats. I just bought 4 pullets for no reason at all. I didn’t even think about it because he was a definite cockerel chick when I bought “him”.

Speckled sussex (the hens at least) are sweet birds. They're also willing to go broody.

I agree with the others. She's a beautiful pullet! The Speckled Sussex is a wonderful and beautiful breed.
