Morning everyone,
Well, we're a little over a week into owning pullets and we had to isolate our bully last night. She had escalated to unwarranted picking on another pullet to the point where last night/evening I noticed her feathers around her face and head JUST starting to be plucked. This is the same pullet that from the first or second night of having them has not let ANY of the other 5 pullets on the roosting bar at night. Yes, our coop is large enough for 6 hens 6'w x 5'd x 7'h. Yes, our run is big enough, 18' x 9'. Yes our roosting bar is big enough 6' long. The height is not too high and they have a ramp up to it as well. Overcrowding is not the issue. We were going to keep her in the large dog crate in the run for 2 days. Looking for some experienced feedback. This is heartbreaking. Thanks

Peace in the flock will greatly increase your joy of keeping chickens. You can try:
  • Keeping the bully separate for a week
  • Putting pin less peepers on her, a lot of people swear by them
  • Sell her or other ways of culling
It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes you get a bird that just doesn’t fit in your setup. Sometimes they do well In another flock.

Is there a chance this bird is a too?
