Hey guys, long time lurker here. I'm not sure if this is the right section for this question so I apologize if it's not.
Basically I'm looking for poultry with dark meat which have great foraging skill. Ratites are great but they're too big. It looks to me like guinea fowl would be best for what I have in my mind but I'm not sure. Maybe pheasant or something else would be better, which is why I'm asking here.
I plan on letting them fend for themselves (on several acres of good land) with as little interference from me as possible. So the less domesticated they are the better.
Which galliform would you recommend, guineafowl, pheasant or something else?
Also which ones have the darkest meat? I prefer it over white meat and I read that guineafowl's meat is darker like a duck's.
