I have 2 Brahma chicks. 1 dark Brahma (5-6 weeks old) and 1 buff (3-4 weeks). Any ideas if they are cockerels or pullets? Thanks

Thanks. They were sold to me as purebred brahmas by a chicken place 😕 Maybe not then. I thought the colouring looked a little different to all the other Brahma chick photos I was looking at.
The first one has a single comb rather than a pea comb, so that in itself shows mixing. You're right, the coloring of the first isn't correct for a dark Brahma or a partridge Brahma. I'm sure something else was mixed in.

On the second, it is too soon to know, but it looks a lot more red to me than a buff Brahma should be, so I think it must be another mix.

Mixes are just as good as purebreds for most purposes. I think their coloring is pretty.

They don’t have the right leg color for cochins either

True. Legs should be yellow.
I have had a few blue cochins and a few black and a few silver laced over the decades. All their legs were black/slate. Hatchery birds and not matching standard lol.

That heavy of foot feathering, straight comb and the first looking like a gold laced have me still thinking there's cochin in there.

The second one looks like he(?) has a pea comb, so I’m still going with Brahma mixes
