Our Brahma is 12 going on 13. What is the average lifespan of a chicken?

That's great to hear that! I have heard a number of different expected lifespans so can't really say, but it's great that your Brahma is still doing well!

That's terrific! It's about genetics, management, and luck, and she's one well cared for bird!
Some Breeds and family lines will do better than others as a group, something to talk to breeders about.
My oldest hens have been ten; two very small Jersey Giants, and one Belgian d'Uccle. A very few birds have been seventeen to twenty, but pretty rare.
