Whats good bedding for my hens?

Probably the most commonly used one is wood shavings or pine shavings. Many other items are used: shredded paper, dried leaves, sawdust, grass clippings, straw, hay, pine pellets (sold for horses,) rice hulls, on and on. There probably isn't a perfect one; all have some pros and cons. Pine pellets are a bit pricey but control odor very well and compost quickly. Many add DE to control odor and some pests.

But don't use cedar shavings, and cypress mulch is probably not good either. The fumes are very harmful.
