Wonderful article ! It’s a great way for people to cheat on their math.
One thing I would add is that disabled chickens don’t count, since if you took the time, care, and effort to parent the hen/rooster, it is a part of the family!

very good article. shows ways to not have these things happen. one thing that could be good to have is egg-laying breeds being egg-bound. there are some good ways to fix that, and many of them are right here on BYC.

good instructions. wish you had digitally drawn a mark where the blood line is, because it's very hard to see if you are not looking closely. guineas have fast-growing claws. I once had one, before I found BYC. wish I had seen this article before. like the photos and lists of what you use. where do you get the clippers and roller? amazon? a local store? I'm just curious.

Blood lines move up or down depending on how long the claw gets. Try trimming outside in the sunlight, on white claws you can usually see the vein fairly easily.
