Are my chicks too young to deworm?

Hello!

About a month and a half ago I had to deworm my older birds (they had a mild case of roundworm). My four chicks were way too young at the time, but now I’m worried they might have roundworm now after being outside. They are 7 1/2 weeks old Jersey giants. The only thing I noticed wrong were a few yellow foamy, possibly cecal, poops. Should I hold off or go forward with deworming?

Thanks!

Those cecal poops can be normal a few times a day. But you could either get your vet to do a fecal float on some fresh combined droppings or go ahead and worm them. Valbazen 0.08 ml per pound or SafeGuard liquid goat wormer 0.23 ml per pound are good. Repeat those in 10 days. SafeGuard can also be used for 5 consecutive days. Give them orally into the beak and be sure to shake the bottle well before pulling up the wormer into a small syringe. Most pharmacies will give you a free 1 ml needle-less syringe for giving baby and animal medicines. Those are easier to use with those tiny dosages.
